"My ten-year-old daughter Hannah has been attending Austin Karate Academy (AKA) since its inception, starting as a white belt when she was eight. She is now a 4th Gup Brown Belt. One of the primary criteria I look for in a Karate studio is the level of true Karate instruction the instructors impart on their students, and the degree of measures put in place to ensure the students are truly learning the art. The goal is to ensure that the Dojang is NOT a “belt factory”, promoting students for the sake of keeping them interested, regardless of their capabilities and their level of knowledge. AKA not only meets, but exceeds those goals. Mr. Mukherjee and his instructors ensure that knowledge and capabilities are maximized, and measured against the students expected level. Tang Soo Do is taught with the right mix of discipline and fun; too much discipline and the students will not enjoy learning, too much fun, and the students will fail to learn. However, this is not the case at AKA…students enjoy coming to class to learn, and they are taught to practice Tang Soo Do not only as a sport, but as an art as well. Hannah is one of those students who looks forward to coming to class at every opportunity, and looks forward to many more years of learning and growing at AKA."
